Hi Folks,  I have some elderly friends who run a small home based caravan hire business with a fleet of 10 vans.   They want an excel file or simple program that will keep track of their vans using their PC and an Galaxy TAB 3 using dropbox holding the data.

Is there a program or existing excel file that will do this?   They want to be able to access their master list from PC or tablet to answer and book caravans easily.  It would need to have the vans listed, look up required date and see what is available, customer's name , address phone number etc.     Any help would be appreciated but I do not have much knowledge of excel to create a file myself. I am sure they would be happy to pay for it.

Google Spreadsheet (part of Google Drive / Gmail).

- Cloud-based
- Simple to use (like Excel)
- Multi-user, tracks revisions

Can also setup web-forms to feed directly into the spreadsheet so people can submit their own booking requests

Or even better just use Google Calendar.

- You can create a separate calendar for each van and enter the booking details into the into the event description (which is searchable).
- You can 'invite' the customer to the event which will automatically email them a confirmation and allow them to put the event in their calendar also.

Just a suggestion but it would be an idea to probably not store customers personal information in dropbox.

There are a few security and privacy issues in doing that kind of thing. It might be an idea to consider creating a hosted web application from which you can access via the web browser - this would enable them to access it via any device.
