I'm about to do a bit of international flying so thought buying some Bose Noise Cancelling headphones (QuietComfort 25) on my way out through duty-free would be a wise idea.

Trouble is, I can't find any references online that anyone in Auckland Airport actually sells them?

Any frequent fliers got any ideas?

Can't hurt to ask on their FB page

Worst case no answer, only skullcandy and beats listed on the duty free website.

I'm thinking their online stores cant be showing all their stock or their shops would be very small indeed.

Emailing them to find out.

Just keep in mind they're not going to be much cheaper than buying through a retailer. Just remove the GST component. Never seen them at Auckland Airport any cheaper than that.

It’s not that I’m agoraphobic, it’s just not safe to go out anymore.

Since duty free stores are pretty much outlets for suckers these days odds are you'll save exactly the GST component - don't expect to get a great deal. The price of many things in duty free stores (I'll use many champagnes as a classic example) are significantly more than you'll pay in a normal liquor store or supermarket both here and in Australia.

It's a shame you didn't buy them at the many Dick Smith sales over the last 6 months or so as they've had some incredible bargains on QC25's

To rap up this tread in case anyone stumbles on it in the future:

The Loop Duty Free said they stock this at $417.00 NZD

Duty Free Stores New Zealand didn't stock.

I ended up buying from JB HIFI for $479 frown

I find duty free is overpriced for electronics.

Depending on where you are going it may be cheaper to put up with airline headphones on the outbound journey buy Bose at you destination, and bring home as duty free goods.

MikeAqua: I find duty free is overpriced for electronics.

Any possible saving by having no GST is usually outweighed by the high rents charged by the rapicous airport company that gets passesd straight on to customers......

Better just to find a friend who is GST registered and get them to buy them for you...!

Which is what i had assumed, but yet in this case I would have saved ~$60 on gst if I bought at duty free after all :(

Did you think about looking where you are travelling to? For example, F1RST duty free stores (in most Australian international airports) have them for AUD$359, which is about NZD$404.

Unless they want to sell to you at a loss or something, I dont know what the friend being GST registered has to do with it?

This isn't the UK. GST registered individuals still have to pay the GST at point of sale, and reclaim the GST for business purchases only at tax time. Your suggestion doesn't work.
