Hi all,

I just had an unpleasant experience in a supermarket car park.  When I got out of my car, a NZ Couriers woman was also getting out of her van and yelled at me "That was pretty f-ing arrogant".  I was a bit gobsmacked and just apologised and she stormed off into the supermarket.  The thing is, I don't really understand what I did wrong.

Yes, I parked in the spot to the rare of where she was while she still had her lights on  - was it maybe because she was wanting to straighten up and I should have waited?

Anyway I'm not used to being shouted at in parking lots so I'm thinking of complaining (or at least wanting to wanting to clarify what I'd done wrong to offend her),  but are NZ Couriers all owner drivers?  Am I likely to just get put through to her when I call the 0800 number?  Should I bother complaining?

Appreciate any advice.

Some people are just angry 24/7. I'd just leave it, no sense in wasting time on grumpy people.

(Also that's my local Countdown and the people there overall are really nice)

If she was angry because you inconvenienced her then she should move to a place with no people.

Based on my experience with NZC, this sounds about default for their staff. Their branch staff aren't much better.

I had a NZC courier travel at 40+ KPH in my work carpark (5KPH limit cause staff and customers walk through it) so I stood in front of the idiot so he would stop and gave him a stern talking to and suggested the H&S officer to trespass him if it happens again.

He seemed to think he had some god given right to drive as he wishes and that he was some driving god. Strangely his van was beat to hell and back and looked like he had hit everything between here there and everywhere. Send the import home I say!

The only thing I can think of would be that she was in the process of backing into the space that you pulled into. Run your mental video back and think about that.

About 40 years ago, I was working in a lab for a company in Akl.  We had our own delivery driver, who needed to take a month off for a medical procedure, I joked to the MD that I'd drive the van for a month.  Of course my offer was accepted.  It was truly horrific, dealing with the traffic then, trying to navigate a van, find addresses when nobody could be bothered to put street numbers in visible places, then when you found the right place, finding a person to sign for the delivery. A van full of deliveries to make in  day, and everything that might stuff up your day would happen, the warehouse packing the wrong goods and a customer rightfully not accepting the delivery, something leaking or damaged, whatever.

I don't recall ever losing the plot and going in to abuse mode, but it was not a pleasant easy job - and I had thought it might be fun for a while.  Can't remember what the regular driver was off work for - probably an ulcer or something stress related.  I expect it's much worse now traffic wise - as well as probably everybody has less patience.

Not excusing the driver for their rant - but it's understandable.

I suggest the OP just forget about it.  It was only words.

Horrible courier drivers are the norm - sadly.

Yep I've had nothing but problems with NZ Courier staff. Rude service, constant lost packages and even packages getting delivered to a house on a totally different street for a month because it started with the same letter as my street.

It seems like they just don't care.

I always drive through or 3-point & reverse into a carpark - due to my first work vehicle being a van with a sign written rear window, not having a rear view means you cant see easily when reversing out.

As I approach a carpark or my driveway at home (high fence on both sides) i can see the area and into the carpark before reversing in, but its harder to see pedestrians when reversing out so i like to drive out forward from a carpark or my driveway at home.

I highly doubt the courier company determines whether a driver is bad or not. That's like saying "I've had nothing but trouble dealing with Cops"... humans will human

I've probably dealt with more courier drivers across all companies then most people here and 99% are actually really nice people.

I'm the same - always want to park facing out. That way I can make a quick getaway. Plus as you say, you can visually clear the area before reversing in, and when driving out you can see it's clear.
