Is anyone else having problems searching in Google using the Chrome browser on an android tablet? Whenever I try a search I get a message telling me that I am offline, but when I do the same search using Firefox there is no problem.

What is the device and how old is it?

Maybe you need to update certain software components or the client operating system version is no longer supported by the API.

The device is a Samsung Tab S, running Oreo and is about 12 months old. This has only started happening today.

Sounds like Chrome stuck in offline mode. Restarting the browser usually resolves it. Are you running the latest version? I had that problem it's been good for a while now.

I have tried restarting both the app and the tablet, but there is no change.
If I refresh an open tab the page will refresh and selecting a link in the history will work. The problem only seems to happen with a new search.

I have cleared the browsing history and this appears to have solved the problem.
