Today, I had an unusual incident where at a glance, I believed I had received mail.
Alert on security camera showed the postie had been and we are awaiting a replacement Debit Card from the bank, so I went out to get it.

Nothing there. Review of the footage shows this:

I've lodged a query with NZ Post, but their web form doesn't allow for a video file (or much of anything to be fair (max 2MB, limited file types).

That appears a bit concerning. Can your bank confirm if/when the card was sent?

Sent last week - should be with us in 5-7 days...which is about nowish.

interesting that he looks directly at the camera a few times. i wonder if its a bit of "your checking up on me so i'll dump your mail down the road". we had a postie here that would do that with parcels. if you phone them and track where your late parcel is, postie would go deliver it to another address on purpose just to screw with ya.

We live down a long curving driveway and have no visibility of our mail box. Some weeks I may not be able to get down to the box during the day. We have asked our banks not to send replacement replacement cards via mail and we pick them up from our branch. It will be a pain if the branches close which is very likely.

Speaking from experience, i'd seen something suspicious once and thought it was criminal behaviour but turned out to be a simple explanation.

It looks dodgy ,but maybe you should find out first before posting the video with his face?

Yup - being in banking (but mostly working from home) I know that the general direction of retail banking (which I am not in) is indicating that there'll be less branches and less services from said branches. If it's not a sale or making money directly, it's not really what they want.

People like you are directly affected by these decisions, but they don't seem to care.

Anyway - that's another topic. I look forward to being able to provide this video to NZ Post and have them explain what's going on.

To be fair, if he hasn't done anything wrong and it all comes out in the investigation, I'll simply remove the video from YT. It's a hidden link anyway and if need be, I can remove the link here if/when I get an explanation, but if he's simply doing his job, he's been seen on camera doing his job and there's no issue. That camera is on 24/7. Everyone that walks past gets filmed. Everyone that enters the property gets filmed.

I'd struggle to pick him out of a line-up if I saw him (and I have watched this video multiple times), so I reckon the only ones that will be able to identify him in passing would be his employers and his close circle.

Was there longer video that showed where the postie went? To me the only legit reason would be he had 2nd thoughts about the address.

Is it the usual postie? Since NZPost seemed to have outsourced their delivery I'm amazed at the number of different people that turn up.
