I thought I'd start a thread for asking the questions you want to ask, that don't warrant an entire thread of their own.

I thought of this because I was wondering if the phrase was 'you have the con' or 'you have the comm' mentioned in various Star Trek episodes. It didn't need it's own thread, but still wanted to know.

As it turned out, Google sorted it and it's 'you have the conn'

"The word conn was first used in the English language in the early 1600s and referred to controlling or directing the steering of a ship. Thus, the conning officer is responsible for giving the helmsman instructions on direction and thrust of the ship's engines."

ie you are in control of the vessel

OK here goes mine. Any personal hygiene material gurus here?

When you start with a fresh bar of soap it doesn't take a lot of rubbing to generate the lather.

As it gets used up more rubbing is required to produce the same amount of lather.

The surface area reduces so there is one obvious reason, but is it also a case that the 'potency' of the soap itself gets less?

Thanks for explaining "plethora".

It means a lot.

My burning question is why does the Dish smartvu 7070 Android box have all the +1 channels and the Dish smartvu 11 dongle doesn't  except for sky+1 and why isn’t this fact mentioned on the box.

I'm sure Big Soap puts cheap, less lathery soap in the middle of the bar to make you want to break out a new bar sooner.

That's picking up freeview? It shouldn't matter what decoder it is.

Re-run the autotune; it's likely missed something or the channel assignments changed.

Presumably because you have an aerial or satellite feed connected to the SmartVu 7070 and it is picking up all the over the air Freeview channels and the SmartVu 11 dongle has no aerial input and is just using the Freeview streaming app which does not include the +1 channels, among others.

Thanks @allan. Why didn’t I think of that. You are correct, the box is connected by sat cable and the dongle isn’t. Having found the answer though why can’t freeview app also include the +1 channels.

Why can't I get my cellphone to ring more than five times before it goes to voicemail and ONE people tell me that it can't be altered.?

This is annoying when you are around the house but do not have the phone in your hot hand.

Yeah that is a bit odd. I just had a look at https://freeviewnz.tv/tvguide/channels/ and noted that Sky Open (the old Prime) has +1 channels on Satellite and Streaming, but not on UHF and Sky Open +1 is the only +1 channel being streamed so +1 implementation is a bit weird all round 🙄

Does anyone know any lovely cafes that are quiet but also don't mind people staying around a while(I would be offering multiple brews)?

Need a new lovely place to get away from the noisy apartment I live in and have a nice home away from home for my creative work that I do.

Christchurch only of course :)
