Hi,

I recently picked up a Dynalink RTA1025W ADSL router and despite things going swimmingly for the first couple of days I'm now struggling to maintain a connection for more than about 15 minutes.

I've swapped back to my old Xtra-supplied DLink G604T and that appears to be fine so I figure I've either got a faulty RTA1025W or I've configured it wrong.

So before I take it back to the shop can a fellow RTA1025W user please let me know what sort of connection settings I should be using? I've tried various combinations of g.DMT, ADSL2, ADSL2+, bit-swapping, etc without much success so I'd appreciate it if someone could let me know of settings that are known to work.

If it helps, everytime I reconnect I get wildly different line speeds which makes me wonder if the disconnections are somehow related to the modem not negotiating the correct line speed and then getting errored to death in some way...

Any help/advice appreciated!

Factory reset the RTA1025W, then use the "wizard" to help auto configure the dsl settings, enter your username / password etc when asked. This should ensure it is setup correctly.

Generally the Dynalink is a good solid & stable performer, and so if you still have issues, then yes a dsl problem or faulty router (Dynalink do get their fair share of faulty ones).

I've said it before, but we found the 1025 an unreliablie piece of **** - and the helpdesk of dynalink never called back when approached. Its only setting thats any good is sitting on the bottom of a cupboard in a box.

Do you find that thruput gets erratic for 30 seconds before it totally dies, with existing sessions still transfering but new ones just timing out. Do you find that it often doesnt reset itself and you have to power cycle it before it goes again, and do you find that it runs bloody hot despite sitting in a place under 30° and totally in the open?

If yes then its the same as our one ;)
