Our area got cabinetised and the cabinet went live yesterday :)  We have 3 DSL connections, one via XNet, another via Xtra and the third via Orcon (LLU).

The connect rates post cabinet activation are as follows:

XNet (naked DSL):  18780kbit down/1089kbit up

Xtra (with POTS line):  17233kbit down/945kbit up

Orcon (naked LLU): 602kbit down/1019kbit up (!!)

I have logged a fault re the Orcon connection, pre cabinetsation it was around 4000kbit down - I knew cabinetsation would affect it being fed from the exchange but didn't think it would be affected that much!

The Xnet/Xtra connections pre cabinetisation were around 3500 and 3100 respectively so you can see how much of a difference the cabinet made.

That's great to hear!

You're a lucky bugger. I have to wait till October 2011 for mine. Yell

Really hope Chorus and the LLU ISP's can sort this out soon, I really can't recommend LLU to anyone right now.

with me trying a different modem and orcon changing to a profile with interleaving the connection got up to 1100kbit!  Still nowhere near the 4000kbit it was pre-cabinet activation.

Someone is going to call me back about this, I gather if they can't improve it I will get moved to a telecom wholesale port on the cabinet rather than being fed by orcon's dslam at the exchange.  Given the huge gap in sync rates I can't think of why anyone running off the cabinet I am on wouldn't want this option.  :)

I really don't understand Telecom's rollout schedule. I'm in the middle of Whakatane (2500 DSL users) and need to wait until 2011, while a friend in Opotiki (700 users) is getting it this year. Obviously it's not rolled out based on number of users!

Seem's Telecom does the Roll out Randomly i would of thought the would do an area / region in one go instead of going back..

I don't get it either, but it works out great for me. Here in Invercargill, it appears they have done the CBD, and South Invercargill. Now, South Invercargill is ghetto-country. All other areas really should have been done first!

Oh well, fast internets for me :)

Yeah, I don't understand it either.

Botany Downs has to wait till 2010, Pakuranga till 2011. And these are some rather densely populated new development areas as well.
