For the past 3 days there's been major work on the road outside put in some new water mains. Monday and Tuesday I noticed 2 Telecom Vans being out there and us having basically no phones all day so hence no broadband. This would be until 4pm on one day and 6/7ish on another day.
Our broadband would then go back up but when we picked up the phone there would like this sound like a ringing tone sound. Forgive me I've been on an overnight shift so I am just wanting to make this post quickly then go to bed. I'll clean it up later just wanting some of the fine regulars there to post some answers to my questions...
Namely
Do filters eventually fail ???
Whats it mean if I picked up my phone and there was a constant ringing tone at the other end ?
If it's a call diversion tone can you provide a link to the sound it makes so I can hear it and compare ?
What's it mean if you phones are dead with no dial tone but your broad band is working fine ?
I've used Telecom's service express and gone through to the Busy line check. It reports a fault on the line. If we don't have the Line maintenance fee will this fault be able to be fixed for free if it's not within my property ?
KK Back to bed. Look forward to hearing some nice responses by some of the fine people especially cyril7 and maybe even NealR. Not sure about Neal answering since I'm with Orcon but he should be able to help on the fault side of thing :)
PS I work night shift for a major north island city council after hours teleoperator service. Which is why I should be in bed right now :)
PPS If I should be posting something in the Orcon forums let me know. I'm pretty sure I may need to. A 600-928 Kbps sync rate with line noise of 14.4DB and Atten of 35.0 Db shouldn't be normal right ?? Especially for being 850 m from the exchange. On G.Lite btw
