Hi guys,
I'm struggling with an RTA1320 modem. And no, I can't believe this is a case of the very common overheating problem as I swapped it for a RTA1320e, which died, and then plugged in another RTA1320e, exhibiting exactly the same symptoms.
It suddenly dies (i.e. stops working). I can't telnet to the modem anymore, web interface dead too, and my outgoing ip address has become 0.0.0.0 (probably because it expired?).
This suddenly started to happen since about three days ago. I had the white RTA1320 at that time. I have a couple of spare RTA1320 in case when dies due to overheating, and even some RTA1320E. I plugged in the RTA1320e, but same happened to it. Uptime is only some hours.
So I can't believe it is a hardware problem. As I've used up two RTA1320E as well, which as I understand it, don't suffer from overheating. But what else? Is there some DDoS attack running in the wild???? Got no clue.
Here technical setup details: the RTA1320 runs in half-bridge mode, nothing otherwise enabled on the modem. MTU is 1492. Software version is 3.64y (Had a modem with the Australian 3.65 something as well, stops too). Modem is connected to a FreeBSD server (8.2-STABLE) which handles the firewall (ipfw). My ISP is Vodafone (red network), interleaving is off.
Let me know if more information is needed. I'm getting pretty desparate at this point, so might get something else than an RTA1320. I love those modems as they work very well in half-bridge mode and are pretty cheap to pickup on trademe. As my firewall/qos needs are handled by FreeBSD I don't need anything fancy.
Thanks a lot,
Berend.
