Hello

Recently the exchange got upgraded in my area to ADSL2+ !!

Saw some speed increase but was wondering if i should be getting more

Current stats are from a Dlink 504T

SNR Margin 12 12d
BLine Attenuation 26 10dB
Data Rate 10471 868kbps

DSL Stats from Cellpipe 7130

Distance from exchange about 1.6 KM / 1.2 KM in "theory" Test running with one jack point connected in whole house with DSL directly across it with my no phones or anything else. Tried 2 different modems the sync about the same Cellpipe 7130 Dlink 504T Have interleaving turned off ( Have no DSL issues at all ) Any ideas ??

~10Mbit for 26dB attenuation seems about right.

How many phone jacks in your house? What's the house phone wiring like?

Dlink 504T is a waste of time, it won't work at all well with the new Ikanos linecards.

With your sync rate you should be getting around 10Mbps. To improve things it would depend on your distance from the exchange, but your modem and internal wiring would be the two things to look at. Unless you have a professionally installed master DSL filter you will always limit you ADSL2+ performance as plug in filters will never deliver the same level of performance.

ok thanks, yeah had the wiring replaced 2-3 months back so everything is fine ( Chorus came changed it all on a fault )

so everything is fine might install a master splitter not hard to do

Hi a master filter will remove the echos from the line stubs of your house wiring, something a bunch of inline filters cannot achieve, you will need to do this to milk the last top end out of the connection. Personally I would not expect a lot more maybe a meg or two.

Thanks for the reply i don't think its worth spending $$$ on a master filter for only a meg or two :P

All thought i wish they get rid of the old "045" to my house!

Hey,

They are doing Rehab work on the street behind me "where my connection comes from" replacing all the old poles and getting rid of the old open aerial cable / 045 Crap! But i will see what speeds i will get after the work is completed
