So there I was, merrily flashing the ROM on my iPaq hx4700 when, lo and behold, I had a USB timeout. "Mmmm" I thought, "Nice brick I just made there". I tried the various methods of salvaging mentioned around the net (flashing from SD etc) to no avail, and have now filed it under "Can't be stuffed cos what I *really* want is a new gadget".

So.. what would you all recommend as a repalcement for the hx4700? I am really restricted to HP due to preferred supplier contracts in my company. I would *love* another VGA device, but HP seem to have killed them all. I had a brief play with a HP iPAQ rw6800, which seemd a lovely little converged deveice (if a bit sluggish and tempremental with WiFi). Any others I should consider?

I can't brain today. I have the dumb.

why not just get JasJam yourself. I had it for 3 days now and it has been great! small but solid and great with hsdpa and slide out thumbboard. pretty fast performance. HP doesn't have anything great at the moment, aside from the HW6900, which has best GFX performance due to the graphic chip (i think it's nvidia's?) but lack of 3G, so will be very damn slow on data connection.

If you want a converged device, and is stuck with HP, then this is the one to get. The ones with keyboard are too clumsy, ugly, slow...
