Hi

I have a IPAC 2210 and a T610 phone.

Up to three weeks ago I was able to download my paradise emails to the IPAC with no problems. Since then whenever I 'send and receive' it shows as connecting and then the inbox freezes. I have to manually close Inbox and then open it again to use it.

I don't get any error messages such as 'incorrect settings etc...'

I have spoken to Vodafone /HP / Paradise many times and they all confirm I have the correct settings. HP even sent me a new IPAC but that still doesn't work. I have deleted the accounts, added them again, hard reset, soft reset etc etc etc with no luck.

I don't have internet at home so the only method of checking emails outside of work is using the IPAC and T610. Accessing the internet through GPRS works fine, it is only when I try to send and receive.

Any ideas? has this happened to anyone else? Vodafone/HP / Paradise have given up on me.

Are you trying to send e-mails during this connection or only downloading?

Have you tried using smtp.vodafone.net.nz instead of smtp.paradise.net.nz?

Remember, the SMTP server at Paradise does not accept connections from outside their network, although smtp.paradise.co.nz and smtp.vodafone.net.nz resolve to the same server. But it is worth using the Vodafone smtp server if you are connecting from the Vodafone GPRS network.

Perhaps you could try the free nPOP program to check your e-mail and see if it can access the Paradise account?

Also, install the VxUTIL program (also free), and use it to PING the Paradise servers and see if it is resolving all names (pop3.paradise.net.nz, smtp.paradise.net.nz, smtp.vodafone.net.nz) ok, and what's the current iPAQ configuration (IP, DNS and Gateway). If you want, post this information back here.

Thanks for your quick reply. Yes I have tried using smtp.vodafone.net.nz. And I am only trying to receive emails, not send them.

I have just downloaded VxUTIL and nPop.

Using nPop I am able to send and receive emails (which is fantastic).

Any idea why it would work with nPop but not using the Inbox programe?

I can ping smtp.vodafone..net.nz fine (Good 100%)
If I ping smtp.paradise.net.nz it is good 3 60%, bad 2 40% (done it four times)
ping pop3.paradise.net.nz first time good 60%, next time good 80%, next time good 100%

Sorry, I don't know why it would work with nPop but not with the built-in program. I know of a similar case, and I actually had the iPAQ in my hands and tried all possible configurations without success. At the end it seems it started working after an update.

Are you running all latest updates available from HP's website?

Are you prepay or on Acc and paradise's incoming server is pop.paradise.net.nz not pop3.paradise.net.nz
