Hoping someone else has this problem or more accurately the solution to this problem;)

Before my rant on HP here is my issue summary:

Got an HP Ipaq rx3715 that can browse the the Internet but won't synch via Wi-Fi.
Running Activesync 4.1 but experienced same issue with 3.7, 3.8 as well.
PC is WinXP SP2
It synchs just swell in the cradle.
Disabled firewall, virus and pop-up utils.

A little History:
The device was purchased new and is now 9 months old.
It has been sent back to HP 3 times for screen alignment issues.

I called HP about the Wi-Fi synch issue today and they told me (without attempting any troubleshooting effort) that it's a software configuration problem and that I would have to pay $49.00 since there's only a 90 day warranty on software.

Of course they suggested I could try their online support and chat techs which both basically had me hard reset and loose all the apps and settings... This is only the 7th time I've gone through that with them... 7 is a lucky number right or is it 11?!?

It's the holiday season and the solution to this would be a very welcomed stocking stuffer.

Welcome to Geekzone...

Are you running Windows Mobile 5.0 on your rx3715? ActiveSync 4.1 works with both Windows Mobile 5 and Windows Mobile 2003, but there's no improvement that requires Windows Mobile 2003 users to upgrade to ActiveSync 4.1 - unless you have a mix of devices with both OS versions.

ActiveSync 4.1 does not support remote synchronisation which you refer as the Wi-Fi sync (actually it can be any network connection not only Wi-Fi).

If you don't have Windows Mobile 5.0 devices, then I recommend you remove Activesync 4.1 and reinstall ActiveSync 3.8. Before installing ActiveSync 3.8 you should delete any files (specially rapi.dll) left over from the previous install.

If the ActiveSync doesn't work after this, then you have to check your personal firewall configuration.

And don't pay those $49 to HP, they are just going to tell you this (or not, seeing that they asked you to hard reset the device, which has nothing to do with this problem)...
