Anyone own one of this? personally i think the A50 for gaming is very good. and X10 for music are excellent. but i am a newbi for sound. would like other more experience user to discuss more about their good and bad.
Oh???? really no one using A50 or even A40 in NZ? i know it's not common in NZ and PlayTech was the only source, now JB Hi-Fi selling those as well. i got it from JB for $300. and it's damn good compare to Logitech G930. but actually the Image X10 with my Sound Baster Z sound card did pretty good as well.
I have a pair of A50s, for the price I expected much better.
Using the mic causes a buzzing noise in the right ear, they turn off after 5 minutes of silence or low volume with no way to over ride, there is no way of controlling the sensitivity of the mic and it picks up everything which causes the buzzing to start, the pairing drops and no custom EQs.
These appear to be common issues. http://forums.astrogaming.com/forumdisplay.php?25-Community-Support
go to upgrade your A50 firmware, i have a mic issues as well for the first few days but after firmware update everything works fine. http://www.astrogaming.com/firmware
the mic sensitivety is control by the software, if i use teamspeak i need to use teamspeak to control the mic sensitivity. the only problem i have is, i use SB Z soundcard and A50 come with it's own sound device(USB), sometime it's hard to know i am using USB or using SPIF.
they said they will release EQ control for A50 later.
The mic sensitivity isn't controlled by third party software, changing those settings only sets the point at which the application will broadcast. The issue is with the noise gate in the headset. So you can set Vent/TS to broadcast at normal voice levels, yet the mic still becomes active (causing the buzzing and monitoring) when you click your mouse or type but vent/ts doesn't broadcast.
Its a problem they keep saying will be fixed in an up coming firmware so we can adjust but it never comes, just like the EQ.
oh i see, so you go thought all of those already. but for me it seems fine, i am running pretty happy with what it is now, may be i am upgrade from an $100 to $400, so it's a lot better for me. so have you compare it with your other headset?
