Was just wondering what are peoples thoughts on this. Do you already have a PS4 and upgrading or buying one for the first time? Do you have a 4k TV or just a 1080 TV?

I currently have a PS4 with a 2TB HD and use a 1080 TV. The PS4 Pro is tempting for me even if I only notice a more consistent 60 fps on a regular 1080 TV. I am planning to get a 4K TV but it might not be for a year so this is more a long term investment. EB games have an offer of a PS4 Pro for $399 when trading in your old 500GB PS4, not great but seems to be on par with what other stores are offering around the World. My personal conclusion is by the time I get a 4K TV hopefully the PS4 Pro will have dropped in price but I do worry I'll get even less for my original PS4 than the $250 EB are offering against the PS4 Pro currently, what are your thoughts?

OT: I'm curious about how or what's the best way to upgrade your PS4 HDD to 2TB? I'm "maxing" out my 500GB HDD and been hoping to find an easier way to upgrade to larger HDD, and which HDD did you choose?

I upgraded mine; it's really easy. It's a standard 2.5" drive. The only "tricky" bit is that you need to put the OS on a flash drive so that you can reinstall it, but it's available on Sony's site.

The actual mechanics of the install are the easy part. The hard part was finding a 2TB drive at a decent price. I ended up importing this one from Amazon.

Ah yes, now that you mention it I ended up buying a USB one from Amazon (specifically this one, which was only £50 at the time) and proceeded to rip the actual drive out of the case. As a bonus, I could use the little "adapter board" with the old 500 GB drive to connect it to my Raspberry Pi :)

[Edit: Geekzone is breaking my Amazon UK link and replacing it with a US one]

I got one of these when they were on sale as it has to be 9.5mm or slimmer to fit in the PS4: https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/shop/computers-tablets/accessories/external-storage-memory/seagate-stdr2000302-backup-plus-portable-drive-2tb-blue/prod128087.html I just pried open the casing and used the HD, test the HD first though. Could try PB Tech soon, they have a sale coming up this Friday.

PlayStation has a good guide on how to do it: https://support.us.playstation.com/articles/en_US/KC_Article/Upgrade-PS4-HDD/

(Many thanks to you guys for taking time to answer my OT).

As for the PS4 Pro. I was tempted to "trade in" my PS4 500GB, however, I won't have a 4K TV for a good while to come and much rather pooling my money into PSVR instead.

It's really easy, plenty of guides online, once installed you just need to restore the PS4 to factory image so to do that you need to back up anything you want to keep first.

I won't be getting a PS4 Pro.  I'm happy enough with my PS4 and Xbox One S.  I get a great amount of games with the exclusives on both.  I don't have a 4K or HDR TV yet and probably won't until I upgrade in 2018 so I'm happy with my setup for now.

I have a PS4 and a HD projector and since I can't find a HDR or 4K Projector for reasonable money, I decided I should possibly wait, but I am not good at waiting.

It will make existing games somewhat faster I have read but not sure if that warrants the spend anyways.

What do you determine reasonable money?

This is Epson 4k e-shift, but side by side comparisons with Sonys top end true 4k have all said "we can't see a lick of difference". It's also HDR ready

I just ordered a PS4Pro. Will pick up midnight tonight. I have Sonys top end 940D 4k HDR ready TV, so I am good to go. I just need a new receiver now.

^What does "4k enhancement" mean?  It says it's native resolution is 1080p...

EDIT: I googled: Many manufacturers have yet to enter the native 4K market. Instead, these manufacturers offer "4K enhanced" 1080p projectors that accept 4K input signals and use pixel-shifting technology to simulate a 4K signal.

Not for me thanks, sounds like the old 1080p upscaling for 480p DVDs.

Still it's a good HDR 1080p 3D projector!

I am wondering if projects can do 2 native resolutions rather than LCD's which just up or down sample?

It's an interesting option anyway.  I'm looking to upgrade when I buy a house next year so the plans were always to get a 4K 65-80" TV, and a full HD projector.  So if the projector can also emulate 4K that'd be a nice bonus and would make for some damn sexy gaming if it's also got HDR.

I'm on the fence with getting a PS4 Pro. I purchased a 4k TV when Noel's had their big Greenlane sale and grabbed an Xbox One S to find out what all the HDR fuss was about.

I don't want to get stung with the early adopter tax if I was to get a PS4 Pro tomorrow. I figured with only a handful of games patched to take advantage of the Pro probably best to wait until more games are patched and by then hopefully it will be $100-150 cheaper.

Im more interested in if the patching will make unacceptably chuggy 30FPS games run at a more acceptable framerate than the additional resolution. FPS will always be > than pixels to me.

Yeah it's the only reason to upgrade for me right now.
