Well it seems I have 2 weeks paid leave coming up (yay for enforced vacations :D)

So I thought *hmmmmm* I might be able to go to Blizzcon this year ...

I sat down with Google and starting pricing the trip.

Hotel $89.46 USD / day
Food $20-30 USD / day  (never been to Orange Country , have no idea what to expect)
Tickets $125 USD

Not bad so far ....

Air Faires $1734.40 Return

Oh hell no !

*screws up paper*

Well there go my Blizzcon plans !

I seemed to forget what many NZers forget when comparing the Broadband here with the Broadband in the states. That there seems to be OH JUST AN ENTIRE FRIGGIN OCEAN IN THE WAY!!

*sigh* maybe I could get some shade person of disrupte give me a free air ticket to "deliver a package" for them.

Of course if I did I would earn myself a free hotel stay in chiz Orange Country Federal Prison cortuesy of the FBI !!

those airfares do seem a touch on the high side. I've seen return flights to London for only a little bit more than that. Did you have a look around various places?

Oh I have shopped around. With flight Centre I've found a price of $1400 for the flight + 5 nights stay in a hotel.

It's just that even that's a bit far above what I'm willing to spend :(

1734 return to LA is the standard norm and hasent changed that much over the space of 5 years (though the hidden fuel tax has). As you have found shop around as you will find cheaper just depends how much you trust other airlines.

Another factor to consider is LAX airport security being an insult to your intelligence.

"I regret to say that we of the F.B.I. are powerless to act in cases of oral-genital intimacy, unless it has in some way obstructed interstate commerce." — J. Edgar Hoover

"Create a society that values material things above all else. Strip it of industry. Raise taxes for the poor and reduce them for the rich and for corporations. Prop up failed financial institutions with public money. Ask for more tax, while vastly reducing public services. Put adverts everywhere, regardless of people's ability to afford the things they advertise. Allow the cost of food and housing to eclipse people's ability to pay for them. Light blue touch paper." — Andrew Maxwell
