Hi, I have the main modem/router (orcon home hub ). I have got weak wifi signal in my bed rooms due to the distance..I have got power Ethernet adapter which create a LAN port in my bedroom, I also have a spare router that I am wanting to connect to this LAN port in the bedroom to create strong signal in the room. Is this do-able? If so, do I simply plug the LAN cable to the WAN port in my router and how should I Config my second router? DHCP OR PPPOE?

Many thanks

Jordi

What I would do is turn off 'DHCP server' on the 2nd router, plug your lan cable into one of the LAN ports on the 2nd router (not WAN to avoid double NAT problems), and assign an IP address to the 2nd router (if you can do this instead of DHCP/PPPoE[you dont really want either of these]) that is within the same realm as your Orcon Home Hub.

If you tell us what model the spare router is, and what your local IP settings are (i.e. what IP address does your laptop have - might be 192.168.1.x, 192.168.0.x, or 10.1.1.x) then we can give you more tailored advice

If so you could set the LAN on the 2nd one to 192.168.2.2. Make sure you turn off WHCP. It's very important that you don't plug it into the WAN port.
