I have a set of TL-PA411 but they are currently maxing out at about 27Mbps when my internet connection is 40Mbps. Is there anything I can do to improve my speeds e.g. buy better adaptors?

The adaptors I have say 500Mbps on them even though they only have a 100Mbps port.

Depends on your house wiring. I had some about 5 years ago that were good quality, but only did a few Mbps over our old wiring.

It's a reasonably new house (2007 I think) so I would assume the wiring is decent. However, I think the adaptors are plugged into different circuits, which apparently affects your speed.

Make sure your not plugged into any power boards. I saw huge drops.

Dont plug anything else in on the same circuits, thats what totally damaged the thruput for me, belkin wemo was one of the worst offenders at drowngin the signal out, as was a PC.

Cheap powerbrick powering a DVR had almost no effect on it, and halogen and LED worklights also seemed to not do anything to them.

I have Dlinks in my place and I get about 45Mbits. They're attached to the second outlet of a dual power socket. All the other junk is on the 1st outlet.

jerryrig the main one to plugin to two jackpoints, will give you twice the bandwidth.

I don't think so. I have VDSL so I can't just plug the router into the phone wiring like you could on fiber.

How about coax cables around the place? MoCA is very popular in the US for the reason that houses were typically well cabled for TV when built but nothing datawise at all.

I think there is some sort of TV cabling around the house but it's not close to the router. I might have to look into it though.

Normally the solution is running new ethernet cables....

Time to find a new industry!

I think 27MB/s is the max you will get. I had a set of those and had difficulty streaming hi-bandwidth content from a server.

Changed to the 1Gb/s EOP's, and working much better, and no problems streaming.

Only a few dollars difference in price.

I have even kept one of the 500Mb/s EOP's on the circuit and didn't affect the thruput of the 1Gb/s streaming. Normally they say not to mix the two technologies, but haven't had any slowdown. Probably helps that both the 500Mb/s and the 1Gb/s adapters are from the same manufacturer (TP-Link)

500Mbps = 50MBps on a very good connection, if the stars are aligned and you have made sufficient goat sacrifices.
