High Point Software today released its BTSuperPak product for PocketPC PDAs. You can download a fully functional evaluation copy, helpfile, and see screen shots at our website at:

www.high-point.com

BTSuperPak consists of four utilities that can be used in full-screen mode or called by programs in any language, making it easy to create Bluetooth-aware programs with no knowledge of Bluetooth protocols:

1. BTAutoSync - schedule automatic Bluetooth ActiveSync operations that work even when the PDA is turned off

2. BTLauncher - create handy shortcuts on the Today screen that find a specific Bluetooth device, connect to it, and launch an application to make use of that connection (like Simple SMS, Monkey Messenger, or PrintCE).

3. BTConnect - find and connect to any Bluetooth device for serial port, Dial-up, LAN, or PAN connections

4. BTSendFile - send a local file to one or all Bluetooth devices in the nearby area

These are pretty cool programs... I like the option to schedule and search Bluetooth ActiveSync partners.

Thanks. We've already received good feedback from users in the first 12 hours on the usefulness of the programs. I love the Internet!

And we've also gotten a little flak on some of the forums for charging $100 for the whole set ($30 for each component), instead of the usual $9.95 PPC apps usually cost. I tell people that there are only about 30 people on the planet who know how to write Bluetooth applications for the PDA, so I think we charge a fair price! :)

Of course you can always write your own Bluetooth apps, if you first pay Widcomm $1400 for their PPC SDK, or use our own BTAccess SDK for only $750, or just buy one of our utilities for $30. It all depends on how much your time is worth to you I guess.

Tim, I agree the development costs are high - initially. But perhaps you might decrease the margin a little bit and try to make more on volume?

Anyway, I'll download and install to test the software - I'm interested in the shortcut to the BT LAN connection!
