Hey guys,

Has anyone used the Auckland libraries ebook checkout system? I had a bit of a bash, but wasn't sure if the hassle was worth the effort.

Seems pretty decent, but I just wasn't sure if they had a lot of books / if it was too much fiddle?

I would love to hear what you guys have found?

Rotorua use it but due to copyright restictions, they can only use the Epub format which rules out everyone with a Kindle which i would think would be the majority of users so it's not that popular

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Yup I've used it a few times. I have a Kobo Glo so not problems reading epub formatted ebooks.

I use Auckland all the time.

Only interested in non fiction and last I looked the catalouge was less than 2000 titles.

But works really well, easy to use, easy to reserve etc.

By the way Google is your friend to use them on the Kindle.

In case you did not know, Auckland Libraries also subscribe to Freegal music service which lets you download three tracks (in the case of Auckland Library) per week for free. You keep them forever (they never expire) and the licence entitles you to burn them to CD. Mine go straight into my iTunes library on download. Not everything is available, but still a massive selection and all of Sony's catalouge.
