Hi,
"PPLink is a Chromecast-like device, which will soon be launched by China-based PPTV. The similarities are striking. For a start, the PPLink is expected to retail for 199 RMB (US$32) compared with the US$35 Google Chromecast. Both dongles are designed to be connected directly to the HDMI port of a TV, letting users stream videos from a mobile device to the display through their homes' Wi-Fi routers.
The mobile device also doubles as a remote control for these dongles. However, the PPLink also comes with AirPlay and DLNA technologies, providing screen-mirroring capability with iOS devices and media-sharing function. The PPLink will be available this Friday, but is unlikely to be launched outside of China."
PPTV making its own Chromecast dongle?
Not a surprising development given the open protocol underlying Chromecast. Nice to see AirPlay and DLNA, but China only is a disappointment
Any suggestions on how to obtain one of these anyway?
Hamish.
