Have just purchased a Google Smart Home unit and keen to automate a few things. The main one being some outside lights so have done some research on light switches that are wifi enabled.

Does anyone have any experience with anything? There look to be some great products out there but I can't get a clear answer around using them in NZ.

I would prefer not to have to run another hub or anything but will do if required.

Thanks for the replies, yes I have read a lot of threads on here and I can't actually see anywhere where someone has got a good solution hence my post.

Lots of discussion but no one with a certified commercial reasonably priced solution that works as a switch and via Wifi.

Do fibaro do homekit relays like their zwave ones? I knew they were getting in to them. That would satisfy the wifi requirement.....but reasonably priced is a relative and subjective term.

It’s going to cost a bit. For that bridge and a Fibaro controller is 1288 AUD. There are cheaper ways to get a similar results, for example a Wulian controller and an Amazon Echo Dot we supply for $312 NZD

I use Orvibo S25 Wi-Fi Sockets (approx $16 NZD off Aliexpress) and they do a decent enough job off my Echo, unsure of their Google home compatibility.

Am upgrading to a Zigbee controller and sockets sometime in the near future just for reliability sake.

I just asked the Wulian representative and she said they have just completed the integration with Google Smart Home. I’ll try it out and let you know.

I know it works really well with Alexa. You can activate scenes and some control of switches. Few examples on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/nzautomation/

bit of research this weekend. Looks like Clipsal make a nice range of ZWave products that work with the Vera controller.

Anyone have any experience with these products?

I did a bit more investigating, the API isn’t on the google’s list yet, it’s only just being released. Based on the experience I had with the Amazon products integration I would advice against it for now as it’s too soon. At the moment Alexa is the recommended system to use with Wulian.

That's interesting, and well priced. I didn't know AliExpress sold this stuff. Being in NZ, would the S20C be the model I'd be looking at?

They also seem to have a B25 model which has a 20% discount.

Looks to be a mix of

Qubino, Aeotec and with a vera edge controller.
