Educational kits STEM, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, other

 

Hi I'm looking for something for children 9-16. For fun science experiments, construction, programming.

 

Does anyone have any experience? Recommend something not too expensive to start with.

Lego Mindstorms might be a good option, the NXT series might be economical second hand rather than EV3.

To follow up

 

After a period of procrastination, I renewed my quest to do something for the children.

 

And have a Makeblock mbot Ranger STEM Education Coding Robot.  Uses Scratch 2.0 coding.

 

There are signs that I will need something more challenging for the older ones, soon though.
