Just wondering if anyone has bought one of these or perhaps has a Watch 4. I decided to treat myself to the Watch 5 Pro LTE. Really liking it so far. Leaving my phone at home, tracking my exercise, streaming music to my ear buds, and still being able to make calls.

I do have a few questions if anyone is able to help:

1. Google Assistant. From what I can see, this is not supported on the Galaxy Watch in NZ. Why? It works on all our other devices, and works on watches in Australia? Has anyone managed to get this going?

2. Paywave. I'm with ANZ and use PayWave on my phone. Google Pay/Wallet is on the Watch, but it won't let me add my card. I'm guessing ANZ have chosen not to support this?

3. Battery Life. The Watch 5 Pro boasts the biggest battery yet and everyone seems impressed but I'm only getting 1.5 days. I guess how I'm using it (LTE while tracking exercise and listening to music) is demanding but I thought I might get longer than that.

paywave was supported but there was an update/change of app and it stopped working for a while, i just managed to add it my credit card back to my watch 4

i can get 2 days at a stretch on the watch 4, but i have the watch in do not disturb mode so i dont get notifications all the time.

most of the time im charging daily when im at my PC

Hey thanks for this. I removed Google Pay and Google Wallet that were already on there, installed Wallet again and now it works!

You have to set it up in the Google app on the phone.

Are you using the default OS or have you jail broken? Are you with ANZ?

Default, and yes ANZ

Google pay, download app onto watch, open app, select add card, and it will ask to open app on phone, where you then set it all up.

Google assistant, download app onto watch, open app, setup assistant.

all this is for the watch 4, so i dont know if its relevant to the watch 5 yet.

Thanks I got the Google Wallet sorted -uninstalling and reinstalling wallet fixed it.

But this is what I get when setting up the Assistant. Weird that it would work on the Watch 4 but not 5?

Thanks have got this sorted now! There are two places to change the language options in the Google settings and i had only been changing the one! Thanks for your help.

I got it on the Spark e-sim. I was already with Spark and the deal seemed good ($250 off, interest free payments).

The only thing I don't like is that they don't support NumberSync here, so my watch has a different phone number when it's not in range of my phone.

Is that a "feature" or is Spark gonna get the two to have the same number eventually?

It looks like they support one number for Apple Watch, but not Galaxy Watch yet.

Other country's telcos support it on Galaxy Watch, but not here yet.

Would your apps like WhatsApp etc come across the watch ok despite having a different number when away from the phone?

Probably considering it's just showing a notification from the phone, not actually processing the messaging on-watch

Yep just picked up one of these this mornign and it works fine with my Google assistant. Great feeling watch too, much nicer than the 4 I had. The strap is lovely.

For those struggling to get the Google assistant to show up on the Watch 5/ Watch 5 Pro, you need to open Play Store on the watch, scroll all the way down to "My Apps", find Assistant and update it. You should be able to get it to work after that.

I had the same issue, and updating Assistant on the watch fixed it. Assistant comes pre installed on the Watch 5. But it does not show up until it has been updated.
