I have ordered a Anker Slimline battery case for iphone 6 from Amazon. It arrived at Youshop yesterday and I have recieved an email from them saying that they cant ship it as it is a prohibited item.

Has anyone had any experience in importing Anker or other battery cases through Youshop?

I'm afraid I can't help you with the experience thing...

Haven't had the pleasure of one of those emails from Youshop yet but, I read on here a few weeks ago some things that were prohibited by Youshop may be ok using Shipito and people were contacting them prior and asking if an item is prohibited via them or not. Might help you out if you need to forward your package to Shipito or another forwarding service.

I was going to chime in with "I got some Anker products shipped a year ago to YouShop including a battery back with no issues"

However I have checked my facts and I see I got the battery pack shipped direct from Anker via their eBay store, and it was cables and a few other misc items that can via YouShop

Batteries could be shipped a year ago. There have been a LOT of changes since then in regards to lithium batteries from pretty much every airline and cargo carrier in the world. Portable battery packs are even prohibited in checked luggage and will be confiscated if detected by xray as well.

I used to bring back lots of Anker stuff for people on here ever time I visit the US but with the new battery restrictions that's now impossible as well.

Maybe it is hit and miss. I was sent a replacement camera lithium battery from overseas to NZ a copl eof months ago, and it got through with no problems. Also just purchased a small portable radio from china, which I see has a large no name brand removable lithium battery in it, and it got through. But I recall that NZ post has batteries on their prohibited items list, even though they are still handling these imported ones I received.

I had issues with a cordless drill using amazon and youshop. Amazon does returns (free postage & 100% refund) and will email you a fed ex slip to use. Then forward this on to youshop and they can return your item at no cost. Make sure you respond to your email from youshop and have them co-ordinate things for you.

Yip all Lithium batteries were added in then (and there were a few discussing on here at the time). Previously you were simply limited to 20,000mAh / 100 Wh batteries which is the limit for airline carry on.

Pretty much every airline globally introduced restrictions banning all batteries in checked luggage at the start of 2016. Before then there were limits on size, but you could take them as checked luggage. I know a couple of people who have had these confiscated by airport screening in NZ and heard anecdotal reports of this being a major issue right now with huge numbers of battery packs being confiscated. It seems lots of people simply don't read the dangerous items pages on the kiosks when checking in.

Now all lithium battery packs have to be taken as carry on and you're limited to 100 Wh batteries (which is 20,000 mAh for a 5V battery pack)

Standards around shipping lithium batteries were changed last year meaning what could normally be sent a couple years ago probably cant be now. You can read more about it here.

Youshop keep changing what you can and can't do with batteries, in October/November I had no issue with a nextbit robin (cellphone) then they changed the rules without telling anyone to no batteries can be shipped but then notice the other day it was updated again to this

However the "click here" does not work at all. Also they don't update the date they changed things (still says October 2016) when I know for a fact it has been updated in late December / early Jan

My advice is send it to shipto, youshop will charge you for the postage however.

I had a go at them about it and how they should be emailing their customers when they change what can be shipped as its catching a lot of people out. They ignored me so I no longer use them for devices with batteries. It really does seem to be who you get and what day of the week it is from their shippers.

Nope all the rules came into effect earlier in the year which was when airlines all started enforcing them. Obviously whoever NZ Post used for shipping was obviously still accepting their freight for some time after.
