I've added shortcode numbers that i get regular text messages from to my contacts list so I can specify whether a notification sounds, vibrates etc so I don't woken for unimportant stuff.

Since I've updated to iOS 13 and iOS13.1 I've noticed the names against those numbers no longer show (the images I've added to the contacts still show which is odd)

Normal person contact names are showing fine, its just messages received from 3 digit and 4 digit shortcodes.

I've tried removing icloud contacts and re-adding it. The name then shows, but it disappears a short time later or if I close the messaging app by swiping up.

Anyone else seeing the same thing?

Just tested it and it's doing the same thing for me (on 13.1).

I wonder whether it's due to lack of a + code on the incoming message, rather than the length of the number. I'm not sure how you'd test this though...

Is it just for messages that you have received since iOS13 & 13.1 update.

I haven't received any since update but any short-code messages I received prior to the update are still showing correctly.

You may have to Add to Existing Contact or Create New Contact again as you receive them.

Also here is the Product Feedback page: https://www.apple.com/feedback/ to report the bug.

No - its for all messages received from a short code number regardless of when they were received.

I've tried deleting the contacts and re-adding them, they just revert back.

Cheers for the feedback page - I tried finding something like that but only found the developer one, which I am not.

Of course there is the NUCLEAR option and that is to "Reset your iPhone"

Had the same as well, I tend to only get them from Auckland Transport due cancellations and figured their number changed.

I opened the thread with ATs texts, went to info and added the number to the existing contact I had. It now has the same number twice. Messages then shows Auckland Transport (the contacts name) on the thread. I force quit messages and relaunched, it now only shows the short code again. So the capability is still there but it stops working at some stage.

Edit: fix mobile spelling

I have a mega list of these set-up under one contact called "Auto TXT". This issue has happened in every iOS 13/13.1 beta. I didn't report the issue as I thought that it would be fixed, then the GM rolled around and I had completely forgotten to report it.

If you are weilling to spend some time on the ohone and do some troubleshooting then I would call AppleCare. I am sure that they would want to get evidence of what is happening and collect logs from the phone that can be sent through to the engineers to investigate :)
