My 10 yo nephew has decided to throw a computer together using parts he is picking up with pocket money. As such he has already purchased a motherboard (Intel 945GC based).

I'm wondering if anyone has any compatible spare parts lying around that they're willing to get rid of for cheap/free? Preferably pickup auckland CBD or North Shore.

If you can find a Core 2 Quad or a Socket 771 Xeon (with a 775 adapter, these can be found fairly cheap on ebay or even aliexpress) you can get performance very close to an i7

Will have a look when I get home this arvo.

May have a few ram sticks and CPU in a box sitting unused, would rather they go to him than just sit there.

If I find anything that works, they will be going free :-)

I have ATX PSUs, DVI graphics cards, and some DDR2 (and older) RAM. Also many cables (power, IDE, etc.) and some really old legacy crap that probably isn't very useful for anything. If it's not too expensive to post I will bear the cost. I might have to ask for postage on the PSU.

For anyone else that is looking for a really good cheap PC that they can customize later. I have used these for my cheap base gaming pc and my 14 year old cousins gaming pc and with a $250 gpu these are great machines.
