I watch skysport 2 on slingshot a couple of times every week. Im on the unlimited plan and as long as my flatmate isn't downloading anything its perfect, no buffering at all.

I find the quality of iSky is hopeless.

Well its a tradeoff, if it was any higher quality then you would have more and more people complaining about the buffering!
An option for a slightly higher bitrate would be welcome for those of us with higher bandwidth (similar to bigpond sport, they have a low, med, high setting when streaming)

Telstra sends any Orcon traffic to the states and back

iSKY doesnt offer a choice of streaming because it has a varable bitrate

How does that work? Does iSky go via Orcon servers? I have a direct Telstra connection nothing to do with Orcon.

iSky is hosted on a Orcon network and Telstra does not openly peer with them so all traffic has to go to either Aussie or LA and then come back to NZ before it gets to you

I'm on Slingshot and trying to watch Sports 2 and it buffers every 7 or 8 seconds, impossible to watch.

Other streams can be pretty hit and miss also.

The interesting thing is tho that the Catchup vids are spot on, hardly ever buffered. Just quickly switched to Sports 1 and that looked pretty sweet too. Would Sports 2 have a lower priority at all?

My modem stats:
SNR Margin 9 12 dB
Line Attenuation 15 6 dB
Data Rate 13286 900 kbps

I normally get somewhere between 2.5mbps and 6mbps download speed at speedtest.net.

EDIT Just been watching some IPL on Sports3 for the last hour and its been superb, no buffering.

So for whatever reason I get mint streams on Sports 1 and 3, yet sky sports 2 buffers every 6 or 7 seconds making watching impossible most of the time. There have been a couple of times late at night that Sports 2 have been ok.

What would make the difference between channels? Right now swapping between the two league games, one channel is very rarely interrupted, the other one all the time.

I find this odd.

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply.

Hmm, if you are getting speed issues in general then its likely I can help. Please PM me your account number and I'll take a look for you.

However, if you are having issues on some channels from their end and not others, this is likely to be a congestion issue on Sky's end as proof that the connection runs fine on other channels/mediums is proof enough its not a provider issue.

Thanks,
Ben
