last week i just switch my ADSL2+ from telecom to slingshot, and that cause me 2 major issues.
1. ask them to cut me over at 27 or 28 Aug, but they cut me off the next day, end up i have to call them and they somehow have to put me into a temp plan (i applied for unlimited) they said they have to change me next month.
2. speed issues, before i cut over to slingshot i got around 6-7Mbps with telecom, after cut over i got 0.5-0.8Mbps (without anything running and connect to router), i never think slingshot as fast as telecom, but not as bad as this.
call slingshot tech, they said i should have 20-21Mbps, and ask me to do ping, pathping, tracert testing for few different sites. and send them the result.
they said it may take 1-5 days to solve it.
and then today i call them again. this guys told me it may take 10-28 days to get it resolve. and the worst is he said the line should have no issues and my equipment is the cause of the issues, and i am uploading would be one of them (around 10k-20k upload speed, which is not a issues when i with telecom). this really piss off.
i just applied spark vdsl 30 mins ago and hope they get it done ASAP.
if 10-20k upload will slow down my internet from 6Mbps to 0.5Mbps with slingshot internet then it's fine. i move on.
this is my experiences with slingshot.

to be fair slingshot may be able to fix my speed issues, but i just can't trust this unknown ETA. and they may end up said my equipment is the issue.

Hello... Our robot found some keywords in your post, so here is an automated reply with some important things to note regarding broadband speeds.

If you are posting regarding DSL speeds please check that

- you have reset your modem and router

- your PC (or other PCs in your LAN) is not downloading large files when you are testing

- you are not being throttled by your ISP due to going over the monthly cap

- your tests are always done on an ethernet connection to the router - do not use wireless for testing

- you read this topic and follow the instructions there.

Make sure you provide information for other users to help you. If you have not already done it, please EDIT your post and add this now:

- Your ISP and plan

- Type of connection (ADSL, ADSL2, VDSL)

- Your modem DSL stats (do not worry about posting Speedtest, we need sync rate, attenuation and noise margin)

- Your general location (or street)

- If you are rural or urban

- If you know your connection is to an exchange, cabinet or conklin

- If your connection is to a ULL or wholesale service

- If you have done an isolation test as per the link above

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

I recommend you read these two blog posts:

- Is your premises phone wiring impacting your broadband performance? (very technical)

- Are you receiving a substandard ULL ADSL2+ connection from your ISP?

VDSL has DLM (Dynamic Line Management) which can take up to 10 days to ensure you're on the right profile, so I wouldn't be surprised if Slingshot told you from 10 days. Did you upgrade from ADSL to VDSL while switching over to Slingshot?

Additionally from the look of your post it seems like you may not have necessarily given Slingshot all the information they needed, which is why they could have said it could potentially be your modem. The more information you can supply them (and us) with, the easier it's going to be for someone to resolve your issue.

i used with slingshot in the past as well, and got no issues too, but this time.
they have to do the switch over with me on the phone, not sure what's the change in the backend, but i just change my login name and password in router. no equipment change and no devices added.
personally i am an vmware and storage engineer, so i know some basic networking skill.

it's ADSL2+ from telecom to ADSL2+ slignshot. now i applied telecom VDSL. and i am not looking for a solution now, i give up. i do not want to wait for 10-28 days to get it may or may not resolve.

i think spark are extra $10 per month but seems worth the money.

I hope this isn't a case of whatever speed-test you're running now reporting MB/s instead of Mbps.

Hey OP, something's definitely not right there. I'd be happy to take a look if you want to flick me a DM with your account number.

Moved to correct subforum. Why wasn't this created in the Slingshot forum to begin with?

Come on folks, posts in correct forums can get better responses.

Hi there, thanks for the offer, appreciated your offer, but it's too late, after few days of waiting i went back to telecom. until now my speed still very slow, tonight i just tried play dayz, and turn off all my download and upload.
pings ok but throughput is not, lagging pretty bad in the game.

I'd say your speed issues aren't caused by your ISP but by the wiring. Go back to the top of this page and answer the questions posted by PeterReader.

Hi guys, just an update, after switch back to spark, i got 6ms ping, 39Mb down and 9Mb up in speedtest.net.
nothing has change inside the house, Chorus didn't even need to come in to set it up.
Slingshot customer support are ok, (accept the 1st level support guy, that i talked to said it's my equipment cause the issues) i called them two times try to get them waive the slingshot early termination fee, they don't want to.
end up my friend called twice for me and they said they going to waive it. (still yet to see)

after i logged a call with slingshot for my speed issues, they do not actively try to help me solve the issue, but try to point finger to me, is not acceptable to me.
they never call me back or update me for 10 days after i logged the call and send them information they needed.
i have at least 15days with 0.5Mb speed. and i paid around $40-50 for that.
i am not saying they are bad but just my experiences, their customer service normally are better then spark. but just 0.5Mb for over 10days is not something i can wait for them to solve.

By Wiring? which part of the wiring? from exchange to home? (i got no issues with the same copper with spark),i guess you mean wiring from exchange to the DC?
my 2 different modems show all the speed and sync rate etc are good. and they said my address is used wholesale service(that's what they told me).

in this case, your VDSL installation was incorrectly done.

as part of a VDSL connection with Spark, an Full installation should be carried out.

This includes a master filter installation, This would have been the first step in insuring your internal wiring is right.

20-21mbit? that sounds like a prequal, if it was, ild say your line could be better than current on vdsl.

get Spark to send the tech back out and do the full installation like he should have (part of the fee you pay includes paying off the installation)

Likely your speed was worse on slingshot, as you were probably on their gear, with a lower SNR, which on bad lines can preform badly. the other end of the stick being on good lines, it preforms far better.

There is something not quite right with your story if you were only getting 6-7Mbps on ADSL2+ with Telecom and moved to VDSL2 and now get 39Mbps and had no visit from Chorus to install a master filter. Quite simply that's just not possible.
