I'm looking to dump Orcon and move to 2degrees. I have had ongoing speed issues on my Fibre connection that Orcon are not willing to look at as the speedtest result (for Auckland servers) shows my line speed is fine. Most of my speed issues are to do with international sites (Ring.com, Facebook, Vimeo, Ubuntu etc) which become unusably slow quite frequently.

Anyway, looking for some feedback from existing 2degrees customers. How are your peak international speeds like? How has customer support been for you? What about the quality of their VoIP lines?

Thanks

It's fast and reliable. I've had it for something like 18 months to 2 years, outages are rare, routing is good, performance is good, and customer service is good. I recommend it.

A friend of mine has moved from Slingshot fibre in Auckland to 2degrees VDSL in Whanganui. He says the 2degrees connection feels noticeably faster when web browsing.

it's fine, never had problems, but it's a moot point when you are on a 1GB fibre connection, even if they slow you down by half its still quick

Have been using them for somewhere around 5 years now (previously Snap), and am happy with their network's performance. Would very much like faster internet, but the Chorus network doesn't allow it.

No issues when I was with them. Only moved because their card payment charge got me looking at other deals so moved to voyager since it was a little cheaper and not orcon or similar.

The speeds were good, but all my post snap/2 degrees merge customer support contact has been terrible.

I even had one support person tell me that it was 2 degrees policy that they couldn't investigate any connectivity issue until it has been a problem for more than 1 hour.

When I called back after 1 hour the next rep I spoke to said she had never heard of such a policy.

When it was snap, I supported them because they were local. I have no such loyalty now, and am in the process of moving away from them.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. Looking at the Truenet speed data and your feedback it looks like 2Degrees is the way to go.

You won't regret it. To add to the support of 2D I've just resigned for a 2 year contract on 2D... I promised myself I'd never sign such a long contract again but they're worth it. Enjoy your quality webbies!

I think you mean "re-signed" :)

Been with them since 2010 (Snap) and only had one issue (related to Dunedin outage) in that time.

Been hearing that 2D Support is useless, but cannot verify - Snap support was excellent.

They didn't fire all the old Snap staff and replace them all... It's the same support team.

+1 - Just re-signed for another 2 year contract this month.

Support have been great in my very few (3) dealings with them (sign-up, then again at connection.. then this month to re-sign)

I signed with them based on their Truenet scores a little over 2 years ago. While almost everyone else was hitting congestion between 4-10pm, 2degrees was reportedly delivering advertised speeds. I'd have to agree as well, over the last 2 years, not a single speed issue for me.

Also the Fritzbox router they can provide is a good all round consumer Router with Wireless AC to boot.

Been with them almost 1 year now (was with Orcon for 3 years before we moved house).

Never had any issues. Support has been good in the few instances Ive had to call.

Im on VDSL (was on ADSL initially).

+1 on the 2degrees recommendations. I've been with Snap then 2degrees for about five years and all along they've been reliable and easy to deal with. The best ISP I've ever had!
