Came across this today and I thought it seemed strange: traceroutes showing international traffic being routed via what looks like part of Facebook's network in Sydney. 🤔

Oh, hell no.

Confirmed 2degrees isn't affected but I'd much rather Facebook not snooping into all the traffic I send over the internet...

i'd question if it's not just responding out the wrong interface.

The rest of those hops look very vocus/m2 like.

@sounddude likely can confirm though.

Hi Guys

Def not routing your google traffic to Facebook.

The Facebook IP showing up in the traceroute is actually our router. Unsure why that IP is showing up in the traceroute. I suspect the router is replying with to the ICMP from the wrong IP.

The routing is correct though and goes over our direct PNI's with Google

Thanks for reporting it, and I will raise a case with our router Vendor to figure out whats up, but at this stage its purely cosmetic (Infact only shows up in traceroutes from Linux).

@Sounddude Cheers! Had me worried there for a moment Facebook was going to start tracking people by redirecting traffic via them ;)
