For the past few months, i've been experiencing poor speeds, upload speed to be specific has dropped significantly. Usually I will be getting 2000mbit upload, it's effectively halved in the recent times. Not

https://www.speedtest.net/result/15022396503 - Testing off the 2degrees Auckland server (i'm in the 04, but orcon suggested, that was the optimal server to test from)

Anyone else experiencing similar issues on Orcon Hyperfibre or standard Fibre?

Have you tested to other servers located in NZ?

Outside of Speedtest have you actually noticed any issue?

I'm honestly going to say there is no issue here. Speedtest servers don't have a dedicated pipe just for your test alone and they're not at all accurate.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Yes I probably should have stated this in my OP - i've tested numerous servers, the servers I used to frequently test on are all showing below average speeds as well.

@michaelmurfy - yes I noticed some impact on my browsing and dl'ing speeds, I used to consistent get close to 200mb/sec on steam/MS store (the places i'd repeatedly download most consistently from) and notice that it doesn't perform as well as before. I realise this is all anecdotal, but if there is something you can you recommend to test for consistent to get some sort of reliable speed measurement, i'd be happy to do so.

On Hyperfibre I don’t think you’re going to get an accurate test anywhere. There are far too many variables just like the early days of Gigabit.

Could be your router, your PC or anything in between. The only thing you can really do is test with another operating system (Linux) on your PC and even connect that Linux installation straight through to the internet (VLAN 10 on DHCP) to rule out anything that Windows throws at you and ensuring your router is up to the task but in reality your connection is still performing well. I highly doubt there is any issues here.

Fair enough, so you think that the speedtest upload speeds dropping to half is purely due to the speedtest servers being unreliable? It has been consistently like this for at least 3 months on the various servers i've tested, I did shoot off some emails to Orcon support, however they have been extremely slow to respond (2 n half months deep atm)

FWIW - i'm still just using the Nokia ONT Chorus/Orcon provided https://sp.chorus.co.nz/product/hyperfibre-home/tech-specs

Without additional troubleshooting as stated in my post above I doubt a problem on the Orcon/2degrees network exists. There are too many variables and you need to cross those off first. Speedtest just doesn’t cut it.
