I've noticed speed has been extra poor lately.

Normally for downloading via HTTPS I've got around 200 KB/sec.
The last few days it has been around 80KB/sec.

Is anyone else seeing this happen, or is it just on mine?

It may be time to jump ship.
I don't normally complain because the 200KB/sec is about what I'd expect for an unmetered plan, but once speeds consistently drop below 1 mbit I can no longer accept that they are providing a 'broadband' service.

Very poor Slingshot!

I assume when you say you're on the unmetered plan, you're on the AYCE plan? ;)

Means they've tweaked their shaping gear or they've had a bunch of new sign ups. Hmm, hasn't Uni just started back up recently? :P

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

To offer services at the prices they do Slingshot run a higher contention ratio on international bandwidth than other more expensive ISP's.

Basically it's over subscribed, anything not coming from local cache servers is potentially going to be slow.

I am well aware of this, the topic is Broadband Slow Downs - Last few days not why is Slingshots speed less than I get at some other isp.

I have noticed a RECENT slow down and are trying to find out if anyone else has noticed it.
It's highly unlikely that slingshot's subscribers have doubled in a few days after all and I would be expecting quite a few to already be jumping ship to nznet ;p

Slingshot probably updated their SCE signatures and are detecting and lowering the priority of more bulk/unattended downloading sites.

Where site are you using?

Downloading from my own(leased) us based server.

It's not somewhere people usually download from.

I surmise they might be heavier throttling each users connection, a few slingshot users commenting would help in evaluating the truth.

I am experiencing the problem, my speeds have dropped significantly. Xbox Live doesn't even work anymore on my Xbox through wireless.
And with downloading I'd be getting under 40kB/s, I'd usually be well above that.

I'm thinking of switching also, any advice from anyone in terms of a good Internet Provider.

I am on the old capped 15g advance plan
been with SS around 6 months now
I am experiencing slower speed recently too.

MOBILE: Huawei P30
OTHER: Thinkpad E14 + Asus Vivobook + Intel NUC5i3 + A family of Raspberry Pi x 9 + Amazon Echo

Hope they upgrade hardware / bandwidth. Whatever is needed to increase the speeds again.

Getting under a half of what I used to.

Get roughly 1/6th of max speed at peak time. ( 1mbit or less, at peak for national )

I've still be getting good national speeds but barely getting 256k for international for most of the time in the last few weeks.
