Hi I am hoping someone from Orcon can help me here or if someone has the same setup.

I signed up for Orcon Genius as I wanted naked DSL, just for the internet side of things Internet connection + 30GB data for $70 is a good deal. I do not care at all about the free VOIP line that comes with it.

So I have got it all up and running with the Genius modem, to make sure the connection was there, now wanting to switch over to my Modem and Router. Does anyone know what settings I need to use to connect, specifically the password as my account password does not work. I get the ADSL connected but my modem says error Wrong User/password.

Any help much appreciated.

Hi all,

I was an Orcon@Home client and switched to Genius 3 weeks ago.
Well, this is when I applied for online. Actually the new Genius plan has been set up 1 week ago although I didn't receive the Genius modem yet. I just received it yesterday...So I don't have Internet for 1 week now...

Having received the confirmation email last week, I tried to set up the modem yesterday but it didn't work : I had this page explaining that my inernet desn't work for 1 out of 4 reasons.

After a while, I found out that I had to use the settings shown in the 'Broadband Authentification" section under My Account to configure my ADSL connection, i.e.:

Username  : myusername@orcon.net.nz
IP Address : 60.234.xxx.xxx
However, I don't know what my ADSL password. In addition, I don't know what Subnet to indicate (under the IP address).

And now I've got 3 assets indicated in My Account:
- the Dynalink that I sent back yesterday (OK)
- the Genius Lite whith no rental fee as for my plan (OK)
- the Genius Lite whith a $5 fee (NOT OK !)

As the Online Customer Support is a dead end, I'd be grateful if someone could help me on this here.

Thanks

Can you confirm a few things for me.

Which Genius modem do you have connected and using? I need the WAN MAC address listed on the back.

We would like the other modems back, and then they will be removed from the assests list. PM your login name and I will get a courier bag sent out.

if you are configuring a modem, never ever put the IP address in, as it will get assigned by orcon when you connect.

I am still listed as having a Genius Lite on my asset list but I sent it back the day after I received it.

The Track and Trace says that Your item number EO028251499NZ was delivered at 8:40 a.m. on 02 Aug 2011 and was signed for by "LANCE JONES"

PM me Sounddude if you want more info.

hi,

I reset the modem, change the adsl username into genius@orcon.net.nz, re reset, but still no internet : the light is flashing red after 5 min and the modem log history says 'username and password authentufication failed'

What should I put in here ? Is there a way to get back the original settings of the modem ? particularly the adsl password ?

Thanks for any help

Log into the modem, choose the "Handy Utils" tab and choose factory reset.

Yeah, it's working!

I've made a factory reset (C2 in handy tools) and after 5 min everything turned blue and a Genius appeared...no, just kidding for the Genius...

Thanks very much to Soundudde for helping, much appreciated (especially at this time of the day), but f...what happens with the online customer service? How people do if they can t access to internet (at work or with 3g) ???

Anyway, hope this will help some...
