Internet has been playing up since this morning. Pages not loading properly or not at all, really slow speeds. Getting kicked soon from Steam etc often.

I see another thread started on gpforums about this too, but call centre says nothing is wrong.

I'm in Hillsborough and am have the same sort of problems. Very intermittent but pages wont load etc.

Hi All,

We have a confirmed core network issue right now effecting a variety of things including those listed.

We have our NOC team working on it as a priority one issue and hope it will be completely resolved shortly.

Incredible it was a problem affecting quite a few people and no one bothered posting in our ISP Fault page.

It is one of the easiest thing to use, and if people actually used it it would be so much easier to track faults, ISP performance, and people could just look at the report to see if there's a problem in their area.

Obviously ISPs love that people can't bothered...

How about adding a new feature or two: ability to tie a thread to a particular outage or some simple word recognition that would tell people to post a outage report instead of a thread (preferred, e.g. pick up on the isp name, the type of outage and the OP time)?

During an outage we are very busy trying to:
- Liase with our NOC to get the issue fixed
- Deal with massive call volumes
- As managers, answer the escalated customer complaints caused by the issues
- Get examples of the issues effecting customers to build trends and report to our NOC
- Analyze network graphs (upwards of 20000 of them) to find specific areas of impact

Unfortunately the nature of an outage and the above need for our time to be more urgently spent elsewhere means we are not able to jump onto forums to make posts with any urgency. Last night in particular the only reason I was able to post this in the middle of the outage was because I happened to already be here.

While it may seem like a very easy thing to do, the unfortunate truth is it still requires 5-10 minutes per forum (Slingshot forums, GP forums, Geekzone Forums, pc world forums etc) to get the details and formulate an announcement and often by the time this is done the outage is resolved, which means the time would be better spent trying to help those customers calling in.

Especially as most outages prevent internet access, meaning posting the outage on the internet is moot point.

That said, it is not something we specifically avoid or don't try to do, just something that is a low priority in the middle of such an incident.

Oh, I'm not saying the ISPs should jump in here, there are other urgent things to do, sure.

The ISP Fault page is for users to report and check. It's supposed to be independent from ISP, and a way for people to find quickly "is just me or someone else having the same problem".

Hi Guys

This issue has been resolved yesterday afternoon, Sorry I was not fully across it however we had some very "strange" hardware bugs/issues. These have been fully resolved now and Internet traffic is returned to normal today.

Thanks for your input, I personally am with you for updating/notifying customers to help prevent call center overloading issues etc, also a simple and easy place to update customers.
