Hi there,

I'm another who's recently dropped sky in favour of freeview. I have the Panasonic 550gz. I have noticed I am getting picture dropouts for a second or two at a time while watching freeview HD. When the picture drops the sound is still working. I've checked the signal strength and condition on the tuner and they are both at max strength on every channel. I am wondering though because the coax is very old, and the UHF aerial on the roof is very old and rusty. Is this likely to be a signal issue if they tuner reports full signal and quality?

It could be interference rather than a weak signal, but I don't know how one would check for that

It could be too much signal - in particular VHF via an old VHF aerial?

Because there is so much more video data than audio, a brief glitch will often leave audio unaffected while the video has to wait till another keyframe comes thru inorder to clear up.

Check the strength and quality meters on the tv. if they have them. Not sure on panasonics readings as my panasonic isnt connected to an antenna to try, but someone else can probably tell you where they are and what is acceptable.
