Hey Guys,

I found a website called "chinavasion.com" purchased a USB TV stick from there for next to nothing.    This is the tv tuner I purchased.

After getting the box (3 days later including the w/end - very fast) I plugged it in and now cant locate any channel although the hardware installed fine.   Thinking it could be due to poor reception however doing some digging and came up with the following info.

The device modulation uses 16QAM and looking at our freeview specs here in NZ we run on 64QAM.   Would this alone be enough to stop the TV from streaming (or finding channels)?

I had a look on TM and found other sellers selling this exact model - which made me think maybe 16QAM works here in NZ and has lead me to posting on here.

In short should the above linked USB dongle work with freeview here in NZ (considering 16QAM vs 64QAM)

Are you using the supplied antenna? I received a free DVB-T dongle with my last laptop purchase. It couldn't pickup any channels using the supplied antenna, but works well with the aerial on the roof (used for my TV reception).

Cheers, Stevo

Thanks!

So for have just been testing it here on my work pc (in town) with the small / crap antenna supplied.

Will give it a crack with outdoors antenna sometime soon - just need to find a mini to regular UHF convertor so I can plug it in.

On a side note found the convertor at DSE on the web. So I went to my local DSE at lunch and was told they didnt have it and that all the local DSE stores are gettnig out of componet bin stuff!!!
