Hi I am looking for a standalone analogue external TV tuner box, something that can output the TV signal through a RCA video connector, and has audio line out.
Exactly like this one here .  I have found only 1 in NZ but it only does VGA output.

It is for connecting in the car, I have a monitor in the headrest for backseat passengers, connected to my Indash Car PC.

I would buy the one in the above link but have no idea if it supports PAL B/G TV System.

There used to be heaps available off ebay etc, but with analog being not long to go, I havent seen any for ages.

Without diversity reception its going to be pretty lousy. Any reason you dont consider a dvb-t box instead?

I got one of these Compro VGA V300 Stand Alone TV Tuner Box (V300) from OCzone a couple of years ago.
It's great - has component out, and VGA.
Also it runs on either 240v or 12VDC which is great for mobile living.

But I see they don't stock this model anymore?

I have a diversity antenna..  I did consider it but thought don't require HD on a 8" screen, and haven't seen a small external unit

Ok this is looking a little harder as the Analog units are harder to come by.
Whats the smallest external Terrestrial Freeview STB I can use?
Are there any made for vehicles that work on our Freeview standard?    There are plenty overseas made for vehicles.

I am yet to see a h264 dvb-t tuner that has diversity antennas which is a real shame since digital is so much more suited for that than analog is.

I guess once the UK and Aus start to get their h264 high def services up and running that there will be some demand for it. Till then nothing :(

Not even aware of a USB stick that will take multiple antennas which I would have thought would be ideal for portable PCs too.

Actually there are a couple of USB options one from Hauppauge  and Elgato, unfortunately my CarPc is not upto spec to decode it.

Our China friends have us covered it looks like, will this work? Appears to support the required standards?

p.s. Mods this thread may warrant a move into the Freeview forums now..?

That Chinese one looks like it may do the trick.

No chance you can upgrade the car PC to have a decent video card to do the decode for you?

edit: found this one which may be a bit better as it is diversity - Very Long Link  but again no prices and nothing to suggest that it actually exists.

I know this thread is old but I have an update.  I finally caved and purchased this, was hesitant due to not having dealt with the company and it being located in China.

Package arrived today, it has 12V DC plug as well so I powered it up connected up the antennas.  Got nervous as there was no NZ country listing so just picked Europe, did a auto channel scan and it found all the Freeview channels, works flawlessly including sound and outputting 1080i over HDMI.

What was the shipping and did you have any issues at this end with it going thru customs etc?

Since that one works for you it gives me some confidence to order a couple of house type ones.

Airmail I think is US$25 and UPS US$35.   No problems with customs. They offer to customise the shipping invoice.

I haven't played around with this stuff much so I have a couple of questions if you could answer them.

Does the DVB-T2010HD tuner have maximum ratio combining diversity? Some guys on an australian forum have put tuners in their cars but those tuners wouldn't work over here. They also say that the MRC diversity is required and the dibcom chips were good so hopefully thats what this does?

I'd be using this with the factory screen in my nissan stagea which is obviously NTSC. Does this tuner output NTSC?

I think that's all I need.

Cheers
