Hi, sorry if there is a post referring to this already.

On the TEAC HD-B6T I have the audio piped through to an ONKYO receiver for audio output via the S/P DIF optical port.

Every now and then the audio output drops and then continues.

Is this something that happens on the TEAC HD-B6T or is this an isolated case?

It was a bit of a struggle to plug the optical digital cable into the S/P DIF port and I'm wondering if it's now 'clocking' errors on the link or something.

I have read that the S/P DIF port does not have flow control and retry facilities and needs to re-sync the clock if there are issues.

If others have this configuration and have no problems with optical digital audio throughput from HDTV to whatever audio output they're using then I may have to get the device replaced.

There is a D-Audio which I could check[see below, now checked], but I thought I'd ask the question before I started swapping cables around.

The audio issue is not to do with the quality of the signal as it plays just fine via HDMI and USB(playback).
It just seems to be the S/P DIF optical port.

Signal: 64%
Quality: 93%

The cable was connected to another Freeview box in the past and worked just fine to the ONKYO receiver, so it's not a problem with the cable or the receiver.

[inserted update] Just swapped out the optical digital cable for a digital RCA and I'm getting the same thing.
The audio just drops very now and then.

The quality of the audio output is fine, it just seems to drop out now and then for a second or two.

Any ideas or thoughts on the subject.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Sounds scaringly like the ET box problem.
In the end the ET box worked fine apart from the optical output had dropouts....

Check your aerial, if this is for terrestrial TV then you could probably do better than the values you're reporting.

Thank you for your reply.

For the sake of testing I've connected the aerial directly to the TEAC HD-B6T Freeview box.

Signal is now:
Signal: 69 - 72%
Quality: 96%

I've gone back to the S/P DIF optical connection to the ONKYO receiver.

Tomorrow I may be swinging on the aerial to see if I can get a few more percent out of the signal.

There is still the PCM/Dolby audio output setting to juggle.
It is currently set to Dolby.

I have no idea what overhead either codec has on port response time.

TEAC HD-B6T on for 30 minutes and no audio drop to the ONKYO receiver thus far, so fingers crossed.

I have the same Teac STB and experience random audio dropouts on Prime and TVNZ6. I put this down to signal strength, as my signal for those two channels is lower than the other channels.

I get around 88-91% signal strength and 90-97% signal quality on Prime and TVNZ6
All the other channel stats are 96%+ for signal strength and quality

All the others are fine. I'd put it down to signal strength.
