For the last four years I've been freelancing 3D art and animation and have had three years full-time employment as a 3D artist before that. But the freelancing just isn't cutting it anymore.
So I'm now faced with the reality that I need to get myself a permanent job.
The VFX and gaming industry in NZ is tiny. I think I should be looking for a job in another industry. Are any of my skills transferable?
I'm highly skilled with 3DsMax and Adobe Photoshop, and am generally pretty computer savvy.
Also moderately skilled in various other software like Mudbox, Motionbuilder, Adobe Premiere, MS Office.
I self-published a scifi novel in 2013 and followed it with a novella (now editing a full length sequel).
I'm pretty switched on to social media - I managed The Empire Tavern's social presence for a few months. And redesigned their menus.
Any job hunting advice or inside scoops from my favourite Geeks?
(Anything but McDonalds or Countdown) ;)
