Hi

I have just finished Updating ICS for my Samsung Galaxy Note. The UI for home screen and Apps remain the same as it was in 2.3.6

Is there any settings to enable the default ICS new look as advertised in Android website.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Prabu

If your brave and don't care for your warranty there is a 'stock/vanilla' ICS 4.0.4 rom that a quick google found

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1627854

I do not advise this is you don't know what your doing.

But did this with my SGS II and I love it over samsung's boring and now pointless TouchWiz Overlay.

Perhaps you would like a more basic explanation, of the points implied in the posts above. Samsung have decided that familiarity is more important to users than the latest android appearances, so have skinned their android updates with "Touchwiz", which hasnt changed since before 2.3.6, as you now know.

Your options are a third party launcher or ROM. This is an app that you can get from the market place that lets you customise the skin. I use Launcher Pro. Alternatively, you can root it and add a vanilla 4.0 (ICS) ROM and get it the way that google intended, and indeed advertised on the google website.

Nick has given a pretty good summary of the issue. Samsung, Motorola and HTC use their own skinned app launcher interface, which they tend to keep fairly well the same no matter which version of Android it runs on. This is good for keeping things consistent, but that's about it.

If you want to get the new ICS look, the easiest way is to install another launcher. You can find both Apex and Nova on the Google Play store, our you can find a copy of the Trebuchet launcher that comes from CyanogenMod. These can be installed just like any other app so you won't risk losing warranty.

Have you received this as an official update or did you download & flash it yourself?

Installed one of the custom roms right? You should give Paranoidandroid a go:

Or, as mentioned above, get Nova Launcher from the store. Fills the screen of the Note a bit better than Apex Launcher.
