Hey guys,

So I was fairly comfortable with the flashing process on my SGS4 which I then sold to buy the note, however I have run into this issue now....

I've managed to brick my pretty fresh out of the box Note 3 last night. I had gained root access and flashed a custom ROM no worries. Was running sweet, using X-Note ROM.
However that has an add blocker included in the ROM so I thought hey yeah I could really use that, installed it, and then it told me I required a reboot.

Upon said reboot I encountered my device was no booting, instead it was giving me an error -

Custom Binary blocked by Reactivation Lock.
Secure Fail: Kernel

It looks like there are a few methods to get around this on the XDA pages via Kies 3, where you go through the firmware upgrade and installation, however that method isn't working for me (just my luck lol) and I encounter an error at which time the process stops.

I cannot get into recovery, only download mode, and even then I can't boot from Download mode into the OS as I then encounter the above error again.

Does anyone have any clue as how to fix this? I'm just downloading the same version of X-Note that I flashed in the hopes that I can just restore it back to the original state however that is going to take some time (stupid dropbox)

Thanks in advance guys for any help - and yeah yeah I know shouldn't have tinkered with it.

yea since you can get into download mode, you could use ODIN on windows PC - flash back a samsung rom from www.sammobile.com

theres lots of info around on how to do this, google some instructions

I havent done this on my Note 3 yet so best to find the right instructions

you need to use the right version of ODIN for the note3, i believe its 3.09

As long as you can get into download mode, you should be able to flash an unaltered stock ROM. If ODIN gives you flash errors, then there's something to worry about.

yeah I have since fixed, just did as you said and re-flashed a stock OS, time to start again.....so much easier on the SGS4 without the Knox crap in it. Really sad to see.
