A new software update for the Vodafone Smart Prime has been released

DO NOT download it. It has been bricking many people's phones. Vodafone hasn't really offered any support for the people inconvenienced. If you are looking to purchase a cell phone, I recommend you avoid the Smart Prime until this situation has been remedied.

Downloaded and installed last night.  No problems at all.  :)

Yeah, it's been working fine for most people, but a lot of people, including me, have had it bricked. I think it's probably safer to avoid the update until the problem has been fixed. I'm sure people can stay on slightly earlier firmware for a while to avoid the possibility of a brick.

If you have issues then you return handset to place of purchase with proof of purchase and advise it happened during the latest handset update,

I know, but it's still a pain to lose a phone for 2+ weeks while it's off for repair. It's safer to avoid the update until Vodafone actually fixes it.

Has VodafoneNZ officially advised of an issue with the update?

They haven't really said anything except acknowledging that the problem exists and they are "working on it".
