I've just smashed my Smart 6 Ultra and I need to replace it asap, I'd buy another one the same if I could find one but they aren't available any more. What's a good replacement?

Thanks
Jason

If you don't mind being locked to 2Deg then their Huawei GT3 is a good spec phone. You can find them sub $200

The Meizu's appear to be reasonable, looking at one myself.

Around $200-230 at PBtech depending on sales ;)

Not at all, I've been on 2 deg for years, I'll have a look at it

I replaced my stolen Vodafone Smart Prime 6 with a Vodafone Smart Ultra 7. Paid $237 at The Warehouse. What you do is wait until there is a good special on somewhere (using priceme and pricespy) then go into The Warehouse and say you would love to buy the phone off them, but can only do so if they price match. They seem willing to match prices in other localities.

Here's a tip: if you don't insert the new Vodafone SIM that comes with the phone, it does not lock to Vodafone, so just go ahead and use whatever service you like. It does not lock to Vodafone until a Vodafone sim is inserted.

It's a great phone; large 5.5" screen, 2GB RAM, 8-core processor. It is hard to beat it at around $240. Get a screen protector from Harvey Norman (they seem to be cheaper there than elsewhere).

Enjoy,

Tim

I think I'm gonna go with this option, I've got some voucher $$$ left from xmas for 100% so I'll see if they can pricematch the warehouse

I bought a case for my Smart 6 Ultra from aliexpress, it protected my phone from many drops but yesterday was the final straw, off the bathroom sink onto the wooden floor and broken :(

The GT3 sounded very attractive, extensive reading of online reviews and Huawei website had me sold, until the wife and I popped in to 2degrees to find their variant lacks a fingerprint scanner.

This contradicts any online review or spec list I can find except for 2degrees own one, which begs the question, is what they're selling as a GT3 really a GT3?

I ended up buying a Smart 7 Ultra, it' spretty much the same as the 6, the only thing I dont like about it is how hard and clicky the middle button is. the raised and bevelled screen bothers me a little too, I'll be ordering a case/screen protector asap

We clearly don't, but couldn't find any source for this. Every website I found that wasn't an advertisement for the phone in NZ listed the fingerprint scanner as a feature so it seems like we get a worse phone than anywhere else for no explicable reason.

That'd be because the Smart ultras aren't locked. Locked devices will be locked regardless of whether the bundled SIM is inserted or not. :)
