I'm looking to change my Nexus 5x
Currently I like the look and price of the Xiaomi mi A1.
But it doesn't have band 28 from what I can see.
Is this a deal breaker I live in Auckland and am currently with 2degress

Cheers
Karl

Others disagree but band 28 is not a Biggie from me, especially if live in Auckland. When you out of town 3G is plenty fast and reliable, if you live in a place where band 28 is only option for 4g then it would be more of a factor.

If you live outside of the metro areas and you want LTE then it will be a biggie otherwise it's normal 3G.

2Degrees is expanding band28 700Mhz in Auckland all the time but if you are happy with band3 1800Mhz then it's up to you

Just don't complain here on Geekzone when you travel places and miss out on 4G coverage

2D is also expanding band8 900Mhz LTE

Nexus 5X only supports half of band 28 - Spark's half - so you won't notice any difference from your current phone if you get a replacement with no band 28 support at all.

That is great news for you as 2Degrees will be turning on 900Mhz 4G / LTE NZ wide after they turn off the 2G network middle of March

It's already live in some parts of NZ

No, lack of band 28 is not a major. There are plenty of 4G phones in circulation that don't have band 28 and the owners don't notice.

Band 3 is the critical as it is presently the primary LTE band for all 3 Telco's.
