Similar to this tread.

At random, I noticed very short micro stutters while watching streaming content on my Chromecast TV. It is quite annoying.

Noticed in Prime Video app (quite bad at times) and kodi 20.1 MH plugins such as Neon TV and TVNZ. A bit random.

But doesn't do it in Youtube at all. Tried killing other apps in the background. I could try a clean re-install, but that is a bit if PITA.

Could it be a setting on my TV? Is anyone else experiencing this? I'm pretty sure it used to be fine, so am wondering is Kodi to blame or a recent Android TV update?

TV is on auto 4K 60p.

Thanks

Brother in law has this....netflix, youtube etc fine.   But TVNZ has pauses and buffering.   He's on spark and should have fairly good wifi signal to the chromecast.

There is a bug with google TV where it stutters in certain apps on certain TV's. The remedy is to reduce the actual Google TV refresh rate down to 30hz. All apps work for me except Prime. If we want to watch Prime without micros stutters we need to drop the refresh rate.

I don't get buffering or start / stop pause issues. Though I did have a weird issues the other day with wifi disconnecting at random. Put that down to a one off! Rebooted router just incase.

I have a panasonic 4K TV. Older model now. Just found that out from google. Will try a couple of things:

  1. Switch to 2.4g wifi just in case 5G is out of range, but reports good coverage and only one room away. Though I doubt this is the issue, but need to eliminate.
  2. Change refresh rate. This does sound like the issue. Def not related to 4K as does it on 1080p also.
  3. If still a problem, switch to another HDMI port.

I think I've finally cracked chromecast TV micro stutters (referenced link) / frame / refresh rate content mismatch bugs...

The solution was to turn on developer mode, and then near the bottom of the list click disabling HW overlay. You have to do this again after reboot / power off.

This for me, was def an issue between google tv 4k and my panasonic LED TV. Was fine on a cheapo veon.

Before prime video was pretty much unwatchable. Fine in kodi if you have change refresh rate set.

Also color space for my TV was a issue, but not related. This seemed to make prime video look terrible.
