I'm trying to create a series link for "The Crowd Goes Wild".
On PRIME, in SD, I can create a series link.
But on SKY Sport 2 (or 4) (HD with HD ticket) when the show is scheduled, I cannot make a series link.

This is frustrating as I would choose to watch the HD sport channels over the SD PRIME broadcast.
Perhaps it is moot if the show is only produced in SD, but why can I not create the series link.
This is one feature I really miss from my TiVo, being able to create a season pass keeping only the most recent episode. I wish the mysky could do this.

Cheers,
Joseph

Maybe as it isn't on at the same time everyday on the sports channels?

Yep you are indeed correct, but surely that's the point of the series link, is that it records the series even if the time or channel changes.

Here's the EPG for upcoming episodes of the show. It's a mess.

Cheers,
Joseph

Series link is a mess. It records repeat screenings too.

Sometimes even different series of same show, if on same sky channel.  Is utterly annoying.  Also, you need to be mindful of the 1 week forward view, so if your show skips a week for a legit programming reason, series link will be lost.

Alexis

True. The STB goes by the series ID it is given: sometimes the metadata doesn't properly distinguish between series.

Not true. MySKY will remember the series link ID for more than a week and look out for new programmes in the series.

Yep, I've noticed mysky skips a week just fine.

So, who is responsible for metadata? Sky i'd thought.

It didn't remember the series link for hemlock grove.

It missed a week, and then started again, i have multiroom and it set up on both decoders, neither picked up it started again.

I've also never seen it pick up on a new season starting by itself, the tivo picks up new seasons that are not repeats by itself, very handy, but not mysky.

Yep, that would be SKY.

Tivo's metadata probably has discrete identifiers for the programme title and for each series, so they can connect the two series while still telling them apart. SKY only has one series ID for any programme. You used to sometimes get the next series off your old series link if the EPG data managers had re-used the same id, but I think the practice now is to use a separate ID for each series. It's a STB software limitation unfortunately.
