Personally I cancelled my subscription a week or so ago (Expires on the 14th October).

Will wait for the 3 month stand down period and then get it early next year in time for the sports to start up again.

If anyone is interested, I can confirm that the deal mentioned above is still valid.

Called 0800 4 SKY TV (0800 475 988) the other day and got Sky basic, HD+ box, HD Ticket and Sky Sport for $49 a month.

I was a bit unsure about movies, which was $10 extra, so asked if I can add it on at a later stage. The rep advised that if you want to add channels after you've signed up it's at the full price.

Had the installer round this morning to hook me up.

OK... time to post an update about the pricing:

0800 4 SKY TV (0800 475 988)

Important note: This is a telemarketing company, not Sky's regular consumer line, so they provide much better deals than sky can. This is for new customers only. Please remember to call after mid day as they work at night.

Current pricing is:

Mysky+, Sky Basic     $29.90

+1 Premium channel   $39.00

+2 Premium channels $49.91

It is for 1 year service.  The contract is for 6 months so you can cancel with no early termination fee.

Edit: You cannot change your package - you are locked in to the premium channels you select for the 12 month period.

You can also add the HD ticket but this is not part of the package so for that just add $9.99 to your package price from above.

After 12 months you will be charged full price.

If you want to avoid this then do the following:

- After 11 months notify sky that you want to cancel (you must give 1 months notice - so that will bring you to the end of your 12 month contract at the discounted rate).

- Take your Sky box and remote back to Sky.

- You then need to be without Sky for 1 month - after that time you will qualify as a new customer.

- Then you are free to ring the number again above again and start a new contract.

No dish here. Celcrete exterior. Behind the TV are power sockets and coax/ethernet wall socket. How much effort will the installers go to to make sure its to a good standard of install? I.e. dont drill through and cut cables. No ugly exterior conduit all over the place

No idea.  I don't have a dish and the install does not cost extra.  However I don't know what their policy of the quality of installs is.  Either ring the telemarketers and ask if they are aware, or otherwise you will have to ask sky directly.

Just had a bloke at the door offering Basic + MySky + Sport + HD Ticket for $39 which slightly contradicts the post a couple up.

To be fair, he wasn't all that clued up so he could have it wrong. He had no idea what Bein Sports was and couldn't do any more than hand me the plastic sheet he had telling him what he was supposed to be selling to me !

He gave me his bosses number so I may give that a call.

I thought that too, but it ts a competitive market. I foresee this deal or close to it may become the norm. It's about retention. I am re getting Sky as Fanpass isn't cutting it and the full move to OD is ages away. I just prefer it just works

So, who has access to this 0800 number? As in where is it publicised? Aside from here. I called, took the Promotions on the IVR. Its like a standard, normal deal, but in a soft launch so to speak. Our normal price is this, but its also this, IF you know the number and of it. Perhaps they are targeting the in the know crowd?

This is not a sky number and they will not offer you the same deal. They will charge you $20 more for the mySky+. Or at least that was as close as they used to get.

The number is a telemarketing company. Sky tells them which phone numbers they can call but anyone can call the number and your contract will be processed as a referral. I don't think Sky is 100% happy the telemarketers number has become so "public" but there's not much they can do.
