The deal is $48.99 inc GST per month and you get:

Geez. $60 for My Sky, HD ticket (grrrr), sports, movies and soho, I might be tempted to sign up.

Don't think you'd get Soho with that packs you have suggested. You need Entertainment AND either Sport or Movies. You won't get it with Movies and Sport (I think).

yep as per Skys normal deal Soho is free if you get Ent and sport OR you get Ent and Movies OR Ent, Movies and Sport

Hi,

Ok I was getting confused so have had a good chat to  (name withheld) on 0800 475 988 (0800 SKY TV).

Under the new deal Sky Entertainment is now considered a premium package like Movies, Sport etc

The deal is $48.99 inc GST per month and you get:

  • Sky Starter

  • MYSky+ (1Tb drive)

  • 2 x Premium Channels (Movies, Sport, or Entertainment)

  • Free install, 6 month contract etc

Stand down for previous Sky customers is s 30 days from the day you return the Sky Decoder

If you select Entertainment and (Sport or Movies) you get SoHo for free (as per Skys normal offer)

Everything else is normal price

For those who want to compare, below is normal pricing (per month) from Sky's Website:

Sky Starter - $24.91

Sky Entertainment - $25

Soho - $9.99

Sky Sport - $29.90

Sky Movies - $20.93

BeIn - $ 16.10

HD Ticket - $9.99

MySky - $15

MySky+ - $20 per month

Still not sure what they mean by 'Entertainment' but our $48.99 package has always been MySky HDI+, HD ticket, Sky Basic and Sports. And apparently from March 1 we have had Soho.

From the 1st March Sky Basic was split into Sky Starter and Sky Entertainment. If you are on the old deal the pricing didn't change but you got Soho for free :)

When you deal is up your will need to work out if you want the extra channels the are in Sky Entertainment or not and whether to keep the HD ticket

Hi everyone
I have Sky with sky sports, under that special deal for $39, but its finishing in a week. I've called them to cancel and I'm returning the box soon. I know there is a 30 day stand down period before I can sign up again, but what if another member of the household (with a different surname) wants to sign up earlier? Will they accept it considering it's a new customer?
Cheers

Hi, great thread, excellent info, thanks to all contributing.

I want to ring this line and get Sky this way. I notice you've all said that if you have an existing decoder i.e. you're already a customer, then you need to give that back and have a 30 day stand-down, before you can qualify for this deal again.

But what if I am currently not a "Sky Direct" customer? I get my Sky through Vodafone, so all billing comes that way, I never deal with Sky directly.

I notice that on Sky's website, for their current full price "deals", they state the following;

"This offer is only available to new SKY direct customers."

This means I can get the prices the Sky website is offering, as I'm not a "SKY direct" customer.

Does anyone know if this would also apply to this telemarketing deal? Obviously I will ask them when I call, but thought perhaps someone on here might know and save me the hassle...

Thanks!

Also one more question!

Can anyone advise if the "2x premium channels" part of the deal is allowed to include the Bein Sports channel?

They seemed to have in the past - just tell them the old person moved out. It seems to be based on teh Account holder not the address

Hi,

I think in the past you could still get the deals, even if you have had it with Vodafone - the key term is "Sky Direct". However YMMV - ring the 0800 number and ask.

No I don't think so - but again best to ring the 0800 and ask :)

Thanks Clinty!

Will ring and find out, but you've given me hope on the 'non-direct customer' thing!

I just got this unsolicited text, anyone else received similar? Name / Number redacted in case it’s genuine :)

“Hi
Andy from SKY TV DIRECT SALES.
Apparently you no longer have SKY for whatever reason.
However should you be keen on a great deal to get SKY back again then please contact me. I can give you the best deal for 12 months. Minimum period 6 months.
